Having worked on dozens of books published by the world's most imminent houses, we bring tons of experience and ensure that each individual project is sculpted and polished in tune with the industry standards, noteworthy trends and the target market. Developmental Editing
A thorough review of your manuscript focused on broader aspects of the piece answering the following questions - does the story follow a logical path, do
the characters seem realistic, is the writing too cliched.
Alpha Reading
Being voracious readers who devour a multitude of fiction and non-fiction texts, we are very likely to belong to the section of readers that your manuscript is targeting. Once your first draft if ready, we will give it an alpha read, critiquing it from the perspective of the customers/ readers.
Beta Reading
If your manuscript is print-ready - edited, typeset and proofread - and you would like an expert from your target readership to suggest last-minute changes and get an idea of how it might fare upon being published, please send it to us for a beta read.
Manuscript Evaluation
This entails more of a professional critique of your manuscript. While many literary agents these days do provide feedback and a round of edits before pitching it to prospective publishers, they have gotten highly selective, expecting a ready-to-publish level of writing.
Sensitivity Reading
While dealing with sensitive issues or representing marginalized communities, several authors, illustrators, editors and publishers hire inclusion consultants/ sensitivity readers with lived experience to ensure an authenticity and to weed out tokenism and stereotypes. Creative-cum-technical consultancy
If you have a rough idea of what you wish to write about but are unsure where to begin, we can help you in formulating a chapter plan and drafting suitable character sketches.
Please enclose the following in all formal proposals for your book:
- Type of service sought - Developmental editing, manuscript evaluation, sensitivity reading, alpha reading or beta reading
- Genre - fiction/ non-fiction, and then further - sci-fi/ fantasy/ autobiographical/ surrealistic and so on
- Word count - this will aid us in charting a rough timetable and finalising the total fees (calculated as per the UK average, following guidelines from Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading UK)
- Stage - idea generation/first draft/ once-edited/ nearing publication date
- Target market - age group, medium and geographical location
